French Mustard stoneware pot made by Digoin & Sarreguemines, France. Solid white heavyweight ironstone pot for mustard with black transfers on front and back. This small stoneware pot is heavily glazed and inscribed with “Dijon, Grey-Poupon House Founded in 1777” on front and “This pot of mustard must have the cap Grey Poupon, Made in France” on back. The Digoin & Sarreguemines fabrication mark stamped on bottom indicates it was produced between 1975 and 1900. The Sarreguemines earthenware company was founded in 1777 in France on near the border of Germany by two brothers. The pot has a beautiful patina and marks of its history and age. The rim has two small chips and is browned with age and there are multiple small marks of wear and age on the sides which add to its old world charm.
